The play imagines a society where men are divided into Notables, Greats, and Smalls — with the Notables sitting at the top of the intellectual and economic food chain. One such Notable receives a mysterious box in the mail, supposedly sent by the Devil himself. Curious, he invites a Small and a Great over to his home for an overnight gathering to figure out whether the box’s magical powers are real. Blending sharp wit and irony, the play follows the three through a long, unpredictable night… where only the cleverest will make it to morning.
